Nautica Marketing Inc. and Captain Josie Longo of Adventure Cruising & Sailing School Announce New Way to Learn How to Sail

Saint Petersburg, FL (PRWEB) September 18, 2007

Hobbies traditionally provide a great opportunity to meet new people with similar interests and help keep the mind and body active. However, the majority of people find that starting a new hobby can be both time consuming and expensive, especially in the sport of sailing. Learning the points of sail and proper sail trim can be difficult for many. To promote the ease of sailing, Captain Josie Longo announces a way to make learning the wind easy and fun through the use of the new and innovative Sailing Wind Wheel (http://sailingwindwheel.com)].

The Sailing Wind Wheel is a new, interactive way to learn how to sail. This unique tool teaches users the fundamentals of the relationship between the boat and the wind. The boat is strategically placed on a clear disc with the port and starboard clearly marked with red and green. The boat rotates 360 degrees through the wind, while the sails adjust independently to help users visualize how the sails need to look and move on various Points-of-Sail.

This interactive learning tool is not only easy to use, but is also effective. By providing the Points-of-Sail in clock reference and degrees of angel, people are able to grasp sailing fundamentals quickly and easily. Conveniently placed on the back of the Sailing Wind Wheel are detailed explanations of the Points-of-Sail, proper sail trim, words of the wind, Helmsman commands and proper crew responses.

Creator of the Sailing Wind Wheel, Captain Josie Longo, explains, “Learning to sail is now as easy as pie with the Sailing Wind Wheel. Anyone, who has found learning how to sail difficult, will be amazed at how easy it is to learn how to sail with the Sailing Wind Wheel. This is a fantastic, interactive way for people to learn their Points-of-Sail. “

Captain Josie continues, “This wheel makes it so easy to understand sailing that it takes the fear out of learning. The Sailing Wind Wheel is the perfect teaching tool for all sailing schools and sailing organizations. It is designed for both young people and adults to learn with ease.”

To promote the love of sailing, special business rates are available for orders of the Sailing Wind Wheel that are over ten. In addition, companion booklets for both individuals and instructors are available to answer any tough questions.

Electrical Safety Foundation International and Scholastic Bring Safety Tools to School

Electrical Safety Foundation International and Scholastic Bring Safety Tools to School

Arlington, VA (Vocus) May 19, 2010

Electrical Safety Foundation International has teamed up with Scholastic to develop and launch a new electrical safety awareness program delivering critical electrical and fire safety information to children in grades 3–5 at Title I schools. It’s Electric!, which features dynamic teaching tools and educational resources, is currently being used in more than 15,000 classrooms nationwide.

“The electronics that today’s children interact with on a daily basis have enriched their lives; however, these devices and toys can also represent potential hazards if used without the proper education,” stated Brett Brenner, president of the Electrical Safety Foundation International. “Thanks to this grant from the Department of Homeland Security, we’ve created a diverse and adaptive set of tools that will help educate our children about staying safe around electricity.”

To ensure successful learning, ESFI has designed a series of electrical safety lessons that satisfy leading educational standards and reinforce the Foundation’s commitment to fostering safe electrical practices. The It’s Electric! InSchool program will take students on a journey led by ESFI’s mascot, Private I. Plug, to discover the electrical hazards that abound in every day life, as well as the science behind them.

Each year in the United States, electrical accidents and fires kill and injure thousands of people in and around the home. Lower income families and children tend to be at the highest risk of theses types of accidents due in part to a lack of electrical safety education. In addition, home fires are a particular concern with children who may be home without proper supervision or knowledge about what to do when a fire occurs.

Communicating this information to elementary school children through fun, interactive educational materials, featuring a combination of in-depth teaching plans, classroom activities, and online lessons will drive behavioral change and establish proper electrical safety habits that will last a lifetime and may even save lives.

The program provides teachers with materials they can use each year to incorporate important tips, maintenance reminders and safety lessons into their curriculums. ESFI has also developed a series of colorful hands-on learning tools featuring Private I. Plug, including a maze and coloring and activity sheets, which are part of a take-home kit for students to share with their families.

The 2008 Fire Prevention & Safety Grant (FP&S), funded by the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, has allowed ESFI to focus on communicating critical electrical safety messages to a wider audience and providing valuable community education support to U.S. fire service professionals, educators and key stakeholders with an interest in electrical safety and a desire to enhance local fire safety outreach efforts. The FP&S Grant is awarded annually to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters from fire and related hazards, prioritizing fire prevention and safety programs aimed at high-risk populations such as children and firefighters.

The FP&S Grants are part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG), and are under the purview of the Grant Programs Directorate in the Federal Emergency Management Agency. For more information about the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program and the Fire Prevention & Safety Grants, visit http://www.firegrantsupport.com.

The Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated exclusively to promoting the importance of electrical safety. ESFI proudly sponsors National Electrical Safety Month each May, and engages in public education campaigns throughout the year to increase awareness of the steps that can be taken to prevent electrical fires, injuries, and fatalities in the home, school, and workplace. Visit http://www.electrical-safety.org to learn more about ESFI and electrical safety.
